Chances are, you’ve been hearing more and more about people opting to elope on their big day. And if you’re reading this, chances are that the sound of marrying your person on YOUR terms, somewhere remote and beautiful and dreamy sounds pretty perfect. Here are just a couple of ideas to help you plan the day you deserve.
You can probably expect to receive wedding photos of your details – the dress, the jewelry, the invites, etc. And this can still be true for elopements. Set a box aside for your photographer to create some flatlay photos. You spent time curating these items, they should be remembered!
This is something that can make your elopement really memorable, and give you extra time for photos together. There are a lot of ways, big and small, to help one another: curling her hair, tying his tie, helping her put on shoes, fastening his boutonnière. These photos are informal and intimate, and just add to the beautiful story of your elopement day!
Putting a little bit of work into decorating the space you’re in can make it feel more special! If you’re staying in an Air BnB, setting up for a little dinner or reception after can be so fun! Put out a few floral arrangements and candles, have a small cake made, or even hire a private chef to make an amazing dinner for the two of you to enjoy together.
While you’re basking in the togetherness of your wedding day, don’t forget to give your photographer time to grab a few shots of you individually. You’re both looking your absolute best, it should be documented!!!
You can literally get married anywhere, why not pick the perfect location for the two of you? If you have a favorite vacation spot or dream destination, that’s a great place to start! But keep in mind, it doesn’t HAVE to be out in the middle of nature – ask your favorite restaurant or museum if they’re available for something completely unique.
Pro Tip: If you want that fairytale quality to your elopement images, schedule it to take place either at golden hour (within the hour or two before sunset, or after sunrise!)
Okay, so I may be biased about this one! But because elopements are all about the two of you sharing the experience, your friends and family won’t be there to enjoy it with you. Chances are, they are going to want to relive it with you through your images. Not only that, but at the end of the day, the photographs are what will last (you know, aside from your amazing love story!) Hire a photographer who will TRULY go the distance for you and will bring your vision to life.
